Pan-Seared Broccoli Crowns

  • 10 min prep time
  • Serves 4-6

Let’s face it: Steamed broccoli is boring, but pan-roasted broccoli in a dab of butter produces a vegetable even a kid would eat. To spice it up, we often throw in a mashed garlic clove and 1/8 teaspoon of red pepper flakes.

ingredients

1 tbsp. unsalted butter

1 bunch broccoli, cut into medium florets

1/4 tsp. Kosher salt

1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper

Preparation

1. Heat a large skillet over high heat and melt the butter.

2. Add the broccoli, salt, and pepper and stir until the butter is distributed evenly.

3. Cook for 1 minute without stirring. Stir with a wooden spoon to turn the broccoli pieces and prevent them from burning. Cook the broccoli for 2 more minutes.

4. Add 1 tablespoon of water to the pan, remove the pan from the heat, cover, and set aside for 5 minutes to steam. Serve warm.
